DAS Lighting has supplied over 800 garage retrofit kits for three of this company's parking garages to date.  All of the existing fixtures were of various designs and each using a 175-watt metal halide lamp system. Needless to say, the color shifting, short lamp life and the inability to control them separately were issues. The AES NexLume 80-watt Orbis 5000k induction system solved all of these problems.

They were once considering a new LED parking garage fixture. The only thing they liked about it was the low energy usage (about 50 watts) and the instant "on" capabilities. The bluish white color and the harsh almost blinding glare emitted from the fixture was reason to consider another source. The $600 price tag and the fact that the NexLume induction had twice the life was an eye opener. It was estimated that over the course of 100,000 hours of operation, there would be about a $1000 investment to maintain the LED fixture vs. about $250 for the induction retrofit.

This business is becoming lighting sustainable thanks to the AES NexLume induction systems.
